You should attend the following,

    • February Check the Meeting Info Link
    • The more meetings you can make, the better it will be for learning the rules. You will be supplied the rule books.
    • You will be assigned to “training games” early in the season and work with an experienced trainer for a complete game.

Requirements

    • Application (click here) - Fill this out and bring it to the first meeting
    • To become a member you must be 18 years old for High School.. We do have a JR program 14-17 years of age
    •  No umpire experience is necessary but it helps to know the game.
    • High school ball games start at 4:30 PM during the week and usually 11:00 AM on Saturdays.
    • Little League games start at 6:00pm during week and varied times on Saturdays & Sundays
    • You are required to be at the school 15 minutes prior to game time.
    • During your first two seasons you will be umpiring the Little League, Modified & JV level games.
    • We try to assign you to games with experienced umpires during your first year.
    • By your third year you are eligible for an advancement level.

Spring 2025 High School pay rates are as follows:

Varsity Junior Varsity Modified
$118.70 $95.55 $126 (alone)

**The above game fees are multiplied by 1.5 when you are assigned a game alone.

**You are paid directly by the High School you go to.

**You fill out a payment voucher prior to each High School game.

**The school will send you a check within 30 days.

 
Your start-up costs are as follows:

1.)   NYS High School Approved Fingerprinting Charge: $120.00 (mandatory one time charge.)

* Unless you are currently working for a school district, this is required to receive an umpiring assignment.

2.)   Uniform & Protective Plate Gear:

* Can be purchased new or used or maybe you can find some of our members with extra gear they don’t use.

* You must have this gear prior to the March Mechanics meeting.

* A list of required equipment will be supplied to you at the February meeting.

If you have umpired a baseball game before & enjoyed it, then you will enjoy umpiring at the High School level.

In addition, our group umpires summer baseball games from the Little League level thru the Men’s 30+ Leagues (pay $50-$65/game)
