Hall of Fame Criteria

Rules & Regulations Governing Application for the Award

 

Article 1 - CATEGORIES:

 

1.  MERITORIOUS SERVICE:

• Individual contributions to the GVUA, NYSBUA, and/or Professional level

1.  SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE:

• Outstanding performance as an umpire at the local, state, or professional level

 

Article 2 - QUALIFICATIONS:

 

1. Nominees in either category must be or have been a member in good standing with the GVUA for at least ten (10) years.
2. Nominees not elected will be carried forward for one (1) year only, after which they will have to be re-nominated for further consideration.

 

Article 3 – NOMINATION PROCESS

 

1. Made by any current GVUA Member in good standing
2. Must complete the GVUA nomination form by the first business Meeting of the year.
3. Must accompany nomination with 2 additional letters of recommendation

 

Article 4 – HALL OF FAME SCREENING COMMITTEE:

 

1. GVUA Vice President (Committee Chair)
2. GVUA Membership Appointee
3. Two (2) Presidential Appointee’s from the Membership (2 year term)
4. One (1) Presidential Appointee who is a current Hall of Fame Inductee (2 year term)

 

Article 5 – DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

1. Attend the annual screening meeting of candidates
2. Evaluate and Approve nominations of candidates
3. Voting should rate candidates on a 1-5 scale
4. Determine the induction class for prescribed year
