Minutes for Spring Meeting 3/22/09

Held at LeRoy American Legion , LeRoy NY (actions in bold)

§        Meeting called to order by Pres. Ryan Raftery at 7:05 PM

§        First order of business is test – answer sheets will be proof of attendance

§        Absent - Josh Burch, Mark Fitzsimmins, Tim Pierce, Gerald Wolcott, Brian Wright

§        Test was administered, completed at 8 PM

§        Nominations were brought up for offices any members in 2^nd year and beyond were able to vote.

§        Nominees were    President - Ryan Raftery

                                Secretary/Treasurer - Dave Leight

                                Vice President - Brain Newville and Mark Fitzsimmons

                                Rules Interpreter  - Bob Young and Sam Rothrock

                                New Candidates gave a brief comment in their own behalf.

§        Bill Pitcher and Bob Charboneau received a standing ovation for Executive Board Service

§        Bill Pitcher went over test answers and also answered any questions that people had.

§        Mark  Rothrock suggested that as a group we might consider changing the way test is done in future – perhaps all question as a take home and then so over as a large group.

§        Bill Pitcher said he would sent at an email on gray areas and rules changes for 2009.

§        Discussion on scrimmages – to be treated as regular games, wear regularuniforms.

§        Discussion on umpire schedules (assignments) – members should check their schedules with the on line schedules which will be updated nightly and once games begin the online schedule is the official one. On Schedules the 2^nd team is always the home team

Livingston 4:30 PM, Genesee  4:15 PM, Monroe County 4:30 PM  unless stated otherwise

§        Monday, Wednesday, Friday are close to capacity so try not to have to turn in a game on these days. If a problem does come up try to get in touch via email.  Also be aware of weather and if in question call home school.

§        Paul Scott spoke of Banquet to be held at Muckdog's game on 8/3/09 at 6 PM.  This year Paul will try to see if we can agree with Muckdogs to keep beverages (beer + soda) out longer instead of shutting it off at 7:30. If you are going Notify Paul via Email or phone call

§        JV rules (time limit and other) have been posted on web site

§        Summer schedules: information forthcoming on GVUA home page by mid April.  anyone interested will by asked to submit an availability for the summer and games will start end of May. There will be a date set for sometime in May for a meeting to address summer issues.

§        Evaluations : 1^st year people must get 2 plate and 2 field evaluations in the next year in order to be eligible to move up. Evaluators are listed on web site.

§        Election results were announced:

1.     President : Ryan Raftery

2.     Vice Pres: Brain Newville

3.     Rules Interpreter : Bob Young

4.     Sec./Treas.: Dave Leight

those new positions will take effect on October 1, 2009.

§       As Vice Pres. of State organization Mark Rothrock would like anyone who has problems getting a jacket for this year to make him aware of the circumstances.
