Actions in Bold – due next meeting

·        Attendance:  Ryan Raftery, Pete Pegoni, Bob Charboneau, Rico Tepedino

·        Feedback on banquet at Dwyer (cost effective, good location, positive atmosphere)

·        Propose having the Umpire’s banquet at Dwyer every year.  Coordinator will be appointed.

·        Proposed a new structure for attending banquet. Send out letter & those interested reply yes. 

                  Fines will only be issued if a person who committed to attending & does not show.

·        Create status sheet.  One for active umpires and one for inactive.  Tepedino                

                  Raftery to send updated status sheet and number members on status sheet. Completed 8/9/04

·        Ejections procedure needs to be adhered to.  Agenda item for 1^st Business Meeting.

·        Add attendance to all Executive Board meeting minutes. complete

·        Post vote totals for all items requiring a majority vote in minutes.

·        Logos on hats: Proposal - Association will buy initial hats for all certified members. 

                  1. All future hat purchases are the responsibility of individual members.

2.      JV will continue to wear plain navy blue hats. 

3.      A hat will be awarded one time to all Associate umpires who become certified.

·        Vote taken to approve hat proposal.  In favor 4-0

·        Rookie camp – Bob C. will conduct after 1^st meeting.  This will be separate from regular meetings.

·        Formal evaluation process for Probationary & Associate umpires was discussed.

·        All Current Officials (any level) will be excluded from the process

·        This will include an evaluation for both the plate and the bases.

·        Evaluations will be used for advancement to Certified status starting in 2005.

·        One full evaluation (both plate & bases) needed before obtaining certified status

·        Board members will be initial evaluators.  Board will designate evaluators as needed.

·        Observed Umpire will have to pay $25 to the evaluator for each evaluation.

·        Recommend raising the JV fee to same as varsity ($60) to cover cost of evaluations.

·        Discussed people moving up to certified status and associate membership. (Tabled to next meeting)

·        Compile summer survey results from the various leagues.  Present to membership.  Raftery

·        Discussed topics for next meeting.

·        Section 6 reported officials working in the Medina area

·        Proposed adjustment to the assignor’s fee to

1.      Current fee is $2.00 a game (assignor only accepted a $1.50 this year for transition)

2.      Assignor fee would be posted at a per game fee to be determined

3.      Assignor fee changed to leagues and no fee from umpires

Vote taken to approve summer game fee adjustment proposal. In favor 4-0

·        Summer baseball procedures have to be put into the constitution. Pitcher/Charboneau

·        Next executive meeting will be schedule after the state meeting. Raftery to schedule.

·        Ryan and Bob will attend the state meeting on October 3rd
