Rules & Regulations Governing Application for the Award

Article 1 - CATEGORIES:

A.  GVUA CERTIFIED UMPIRE OF THE YEAR:

Article 2 - QUALIFICATIONS:

A. Nominees in either category must be or have been a member in good standing with the GVUA for at least one (1) calendar year.

B. Nominees must exceed the normal expectations of a GVUA Umpire

Article 3 – NOMINATION PROCESS

A.  Made by any current GVUA Member in good standing

B.  Must complete the GVUA nomination form by July 1st

C.  Must accompany nomination with a letter of recommendation

Article 4 – UMPIRE OF THE YEAR SCREENING COMMITTEE:

A.  GVUA Vice President (Committee Chair)

B.  GVUA Membership Appointee

C.  One (1) Presidential Appointee’s from the Membership (2 year term)

D.  Previous years “Certified” Umpire of the Year recipient

Article 5 – DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

A.  Attend the annual screening meeting of candidates

B.  Evaluate and Approve nominations of candidates

C.  Voting should rate candidates on a 1-5 scale

D.  Determine the induction class for prescribed year
