Minutes for Spring Meeting

Location: Cal-Mum HS 10am start

v Meeting was called to order by President Ryan Raftery at 10:05 AM

Ø President introduced Members of Executive Committee, emphasizing that any of them may be reached by email listed on web site.

Ø Roll call was taken by Dave Leight. 46 current members were present.

Ø New recruits (9) were asked to stand introduce themselves and explain how they came to become interested. Rodney Lund and Brain Newville then took them in side room for a brief introductory meeting.

v Approval of minutes from previous meeting of March 15,2015. 1st S. Rothrock, 2nd ? ,Approved by voice

v Hard copies of Financial Report and Proposed Budget (By D Leight) were handed out and explained. Ryan Raftery went through the items and mentioned that expenditures

remained pretty much the same from year to year. Financial report: motion to accept 1st By Dave Martin, 2nd by Jim McLaughlin and approved.

Projected Budget : motion the accept 1st Kyle Geer, 2nd Sam Rothrock and voice approved.

v Executive Committee Reports

1. Association had an umpire expulsion this past year due to events that occurred. Bill Pitcher and Dave Dudley had comments concerning integrity of the Association.

2. We did have some Missed games / late ti games this year. Ryan spoke of one instance this year where the member took the responsibility for his error and

promptly sent in the fine. Also reminder for members to allow time to get to site and start game at the scheduled time.

3. Vouchers: Mapquest may be used. We have no current contract so we are using last years numbers for game fees. Problem with a voucher/ contact Ryan.

4. Uniform issues : Partners must have same colors, heather gray pants and Navy, red or powder shirts. ball bags blue or gray.

5. Fall Recruitments: Four people participated this past fall, had games in Mendon – it went well and will try to do again this year.

v Committee Reports

1. Advancements: Dave Martin, Doug Phillips, Randy Todd,Tom Wescott advanced

2. Resolutions: No new resolutions for this year.

3. Evaluations: Has been going well, many have been posted on utube.

4. Membership: $250 spent this year, 9 new recruits, best method seems to be word of mouth.

5. Nomination: Terri Burch will take nominations at March meeting for 2017.

6. Banquet: Steve Wells same format as last year Monday August 1, 2016. Members must let Steve know of they are not coming. Member in good standing for at least 10 years are invited.

7. Fundraising: Jim McLauglin has taken over. 2015 Profit was around $1500 tickets due 4/30

8. Uniform :no changes

9. Awards: UOTY Bob Ruter, POTY Randy Todd

10.Hall of Fames: B. Pitcher, M Rothrock. and Tim Anderson efforts are appreciated by GVUA

v Old Business

1. Committee Appointments: Jim McLaughlin - Fundraising

2. NYS Meeting: no change in individual premium Liability$9.25 of $18 goes to insurance.

3..Uniform Pants: remain heather gray.

4. Hat Inventory: B. Newville :Only limited sizes left, will bring to meetings $10 each

5. GVUA Dues for 2015: D : Leight collecting by 3/1/2016 dues remain at $100 per year.

v New Business

1. NYS Meeting:

a) Mark Rothrock is now Secretary/Treasurer.

b) No change in insurance dues – new provider (Paris-Kerwin).

c) NYS tournament in 2017 will become 2 days, Fri-Sat

d) NFHS exam will be will moving to online test

e) MLB Umpire clinic in January at members expense.

2. Meeting dates: for this year are posted online.

3. GVUA member Dues:Must by paid by 3/1/2016. No assignments given until paid.

4. Availability sheets: These are due by 3/7/2016 and for summer May 15th

5. Assignments: Hot dates May and first 4 weekends in June, first weekend in July softball

6. Vouchers: must be completed properly and tangent rule and ride together policy

7. Evaluations: Will continue as they have for past two years.

8. Game Fees: for 2015 $72.86 Varsity $51.00/$76.50 Jr Varsity $43.72/$65.58 Modified  Summer  U12 $44/$47 U17 $52/$65 18 + $57

9. Roster: Will be posted by test date – If you have changes in information see Dave Leight.

10. Test for this year:

a) Will be posted online under Chapter News

b) Each member prints out own exam and answer sheet.

c) You must do own exam or with group

d) Complete by March 20th and brong to meeting

e) Do all 100 questions

f) Site rule reference and page number on answers sheets.

g) Jerry Wolcott will use test date (March 20) to go over exam and answer question.

h) Test not completed by March 20 will not be eligible for sectional assignments, will be put on probation and will receive a reduced schedule.

Ø Rules/ Case books : Using same books as 2015 since New books available new members.
